Friday I went to my local scrap yard to buy steel for my projects and found some really big box scrape rippers/ scarifiers with the tooth and got them cheap.I took the rippers and some other steel I had laying around and built a really cool cat "o" sub soiler. I was out playing around with it before the welds cooled off. I used it in some areas in my field where the water will stand a couple inches deep after a heavy rain. It works better than expected , goes about 12" deep and the old 17HP kohler seems to kick it up a notch on the power and chug along effertlessly.

How about a pic of it in the ground, even a little action video maybe?! Looks great, think it could pull two?

The adjustment is in the cat "0" hitch linkage. To be honest I have it all adjusted to where the tool point is about 3" clearing the ground in the up position and still ripping 12" deep. To go any deeper it will take a cat "1" tractor with the larger range of motion to the hitch. I thought about making two and mounting them on the tool bar I built but I didn't know if the tractor would pull it . That brings me to another question, I want to either buy a brinly plow or make a double 10" bottom plow setup with the two plows I took off a scrap horse drawn deal. Will my 782 hydro pull it? I noticed with my other implements that this may be tricky with the hydro . What do most of you use to pull at the plow day meetings? Thanks Steve

Double bottom plow would be nice and your 782 would pull it but I wouldn't use larger then 10" plows. A disc plow might be easier to plow with. And with this red clay we have around here doesn't make it easy to plow. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
