Default Cub Cadet 1315 Problems

Hello,
I am new to this forum. So please take it easy on me....Anyway, I have a 1315 and I am having a couple problems with it. I am just hoping someone might be able to help me out. First of all, the drive belt that goes back to the back pulley under the seat keeps slipping off when I push in on the clutch. Not every time but does do it often. It seem like it is allowing the belt to become to loose when I push in on the clutch/brake. It is the correct belt size. I was just not familiar if there is an adjustment that I may be able to try out to fix this etc...Also, secondly and the most scary thing is that it is getting really hard to shift it. It seems to get stuck in gear or it is hard to even put it in gear from neutral sometimes. It is really kinda scaring me into thinking it might be time to sale it, if indeed the tranny is going out and they can't be repaired. I am hoping it to might be an adjustment etc...that I might be able to do. Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 1315 that was shifting hard too. Noticed the linkage was really loose, after tightening it it started shifted a lot better.

Thanks, I will definitely check out the linkage on it. Have you ever had to adjust your drive belt on yours somehow? It only slips off when I push in on the clutch/brake to far and it allows to much slack in the belt. Anyway, thanks again for your help.

Check out the pivot bolt on the belt tensioner pulley bracket. Had a problem with this on our old 1315 years ago, kept throwing the drive belt.

The pivot bolt had worked its way loose, and was letting the belt jump off every time the clutch was pushed in.

I tightened the bolt up, and it never threw a belt again in the 10+ years we had it.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
