he is paying me cash or parts to repair the stuff down the road. i enjoy getting the chance to work on different IH cub cadets but then i still have to repair junk. yesterday i did a transaxle swap on a 1998 sears crapsman lawn tractor. cheap little briggs OHV engine. i also got another on those machines running that wasnt running. let me tell you they are put together like utter trash. i dont think i have ever seen something put together so poorly. the frame is very thin and the brackets are all so cheap you can bend them with your bare hands. its amazing that they work at all, they are so cheap. it really makes you appreciate, a much higher quality machine like a IH cub cadet. i dont like working on the newer stuff, but it will all pay for my bills/parts the same. im still working my regular full time job and i probably work for this gentlemen about 15-20 hours a week.
by the way he says im well on my way to earning the tractor on the hill with tiller, 3pt hitch, and creeper gear. i will sell the creeper gear, i plan on putting the tiller on my 147. the tractor is rough but the parts are still worth $$. having a tiller that i dont have to shell out a couple hundred bucks for is a sweet deal. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
