changing hydraulic fluid
I have looked through all or as much as I could determine had anything to do with changing fluid in the tranny of a hydro in the technical section and could not find the actual procedure. I understand that the back cover of the tranny must be removed or at least loosened with the front of the tractor raised up to get the fluid out. But is there anything else that must be done while the cover is off? It seems like I saw a picture of someone on this site working on his tractor and it looked like there was a small reservoir inside the tranny. Is that correct? What are some of the things I can check while I have the cover off?

There is no reservoir inside the tranny. Just remove the cover and let it drain. Grab some brake cleaner and clean the sludge out, replace the cover with a new gasket, and fill'er up with Hy-tran. You'll be good to go after that. Oh yeah, don't forget to replace the filter too.
