Thanks to every one for this site!
I've been into IH since high school and have had several Scouts. I've got a 73 Scout with a terra top that I restored 15 years ago and am now building one for the wife(found a good one, she getting as addicted as I am). I've always wanted an older cub and got my wish a few weeks ago, a 66 123. ![]() Needs rewired,(building that now) a fuel tank and carb. I got this from the place I'm working at now and they used it to pull cars around with. Someone tried to "redo" it in the past, hence the black engine and yellow foot plates. I'm gonna get it going this summer for mowing and "rework" it this fall. Scott P.S. The last picture is of my 73 Scout. |

![]() Great pics and great background! That's one sweet scout! I can't wait to see what you do to this 123! The engine might be a replacement motor due to it being painted black. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
