Hi everyone, I'm having some issues with the 127 that I built into this 1206.
I believe the leak is coming from the side of the trunion arm that controls the direction of the tractor. I need to know how hard this is to fix, and who may have the parts on their shelf that could be over night-ed to me. Any advice or names of dealers would be appreciated. This truck will be headed to The Red Power Round-up next Wednesday, and I'd like to fix it for my customer. I'll post pictures of it again after I letter it. Thanks, Kurt |

From what I have read on other sites if the leak is on the control arm side you have to dissasemble the complete unit to replace the worn seal.
But I am not posative. |

I believe Lonny is right. Total dis-assembly to get the shaft out, so the seal can be replaced.

Ive replaced this seal a few times on various hydros. The pump needs to be pulled, and taken apart so that the shaft that holds the swash plates can be removed to install the new seal. If you plug away at it, and are careful how you take the pump apart it shouldn't take more than a couple hours to do. Just remember to keep all the springs and plungers in place when you split the pump, when the pump is split the springs tend to force the 2 halves apart so split it slowly. Also...very important!- when removing or reinstalling the spiral pins in the swash plate shaft, drift it out very very slowly. On the opposite side of the trunion there are 2 roll pins in-line, and pounding it out recklessly can pound one of the spiral pins through the pump housing...it can be repaired, but its better to take your time and not have to fix it. When taking the pump apart and reassembling make sure to put the swash plates in the exact same way they came out...one edge is a flatter, and if put in backward will alter the speed per direction....so reverse will be fast and forward will be slow. Follow the service manual it has some good tips and instructions to follow, and you'll be just fine
as far as the seals and gaskets, I replaced both sides of the shaft, and the gasket that goes between the pump, you will also need the cork pump to rear end gasket...my dealer had them all in stock.Good luck Jeff (teet)

Thank you everyone, I just bought a good "dry" pump off of ebay. I should have it tomorrow, and I'll swap everything out on Saturday. I'm going to take some good pictures of the 2 tractors and post them.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
