Default electric clutch problems
I have a ( I think) 1974 -169 that I bought off e-bay a few years ago that I think has a newer 16 hp k341 as it has a electric clutch and newer style starter, anyway, a few days ago whole mowing the tractor started to miss pretty bad and I happened to look at the amp gauge and it was showing quite a discharge, I turned off the clutch and the tractor started running correctly. I charged the battery for a while and was able to Finnish the yard and the next time I mowed I had to do this 3 times, The clutch engages and disengages with the switch and when turned off the amp/battery gauge shows a positive charge I'm not sure what the cause would be or how to test for what, Any help would be greatly appreciated and thank you in advance

It sounds like you have too large an amp draw from the clutch and/or related wiring.
Check to see if you have a short in the wiring from the clutch back to the switch.
You might try this:
with the clutch on, try unplugging the clutch @ the clutch plug/connector.
If it goes back to charging, you pretty much can eliminate wiring and the clutch is drawing to many amps.
On some clutches (not familar with your model) the insulation breakes up allowing the coil to rub on the rotating plate, and that would cause a larger than shouuld be amprage draw.

Sounds like you have a motor from a 1650 into your 169. The 169 NEVER came from the factory with an Elec PTO. Thus begs the question, how was the wiring modified to accommodate this Elec PTO?
