Any gauge should work it just depends on how much you want to spend. If you can afford one of the high end brands like snapon or Mac or Marco I'd always buy that. However craftsman makes some pretty good tools for the home handy man. Of course if you want one that is cheap, Harbor freight tools can help you out in a pinch just don't try to do a compression test on a high end sports car with one because they may not be 100% precise when compared to a high end one.

I went to Sears and got the cheaper of the two compression testers that they sell. Looks to be pretty well made. I got 90 psi cold on both cylinders on my magnum 18. I read that the engine should be 90psi minimum. I am not sure where this leaves me. I could not find the spec for a new magnum. I am sure someone on here knows the number.
So is it time to look at a rebuild or re-power. I am leaning towards putting a command 22 into this. Most of the parts I need can be gotten from people parting out the late cyclops models. If I do the project I will make sure to take lots of pictures since everyone likes them so much.

If you got the same compression on both cylinders, I would not worry about it. The difference between the two cylinders is more important than the number itself. If it has power and isn't knocking or using oil, there's nothing to worry about.
