Hello All!
After looking around for a while at tractors of several colors, I got one. It's a brand-new 2010 GT2544. Got a bagger as well, and with the discount for buying last years' model, the bagger was "nearly free." It's for cutting the grass at my Mother's, and it's kind of overkill for a half-acre, but the back has a steep drop-off which I mow, and since I was concerned about the longevity of lesser units exposed to steep hills, I went GT ![]() Still kicking around the idea of getting an older IH model, like a 129, 149 or similar, for snow plowing, learning about fixing, maybe painting. I think I've had mild yellow and white fever for a while. Here's a couple pictures, if my attachment skills are working: 100_1717.jpg 100_1716.jpg |

Thats money well spent! Good to hear they trew you in a bagger to! The shaft drive and the rear on that are as good as the old ones! Heres one I did a few weeks back just to show you that they are still basicly the same on the inside. |

That's good to know. I did a lot of research, and every brand seems to have it's issues. The shaft drive and rear is what really sold me on the CC, not to mention the Command engine. No tractor weighs as much until you're spending $10K or so. Every other brand recommended a front weight kit with a bagger, and when I asked about that, the salesman looked at the ceiling, rubbed his neck and said "I don't recall ever selling a front weight kit for this model."
I did ask about the hood cracking issue, and he said he believed that issue was solved, but if I have problems, they "have a stack of spare hoods in the other building." Dealer seemed real good to work with. Let's hope it continues after the sale! |

Nice new cub!! You should get many good years of mowin' out of it. I would look for one of the "older" cubs for moving snow, etc. I'd shoot for a 149 because of the hydraulic lift

I've got an '09 GT2544 w/250ish hours now. It is a beast. I went with the Carlisle All Trails on the rear, filled, w/wheel weights. It's a great machine, but the only downside like so many mention is the hood. Why companies cut corners in some areas I'll never know (well just to save a $). Congrats!!!

Blue,
Great looking new Cub. Good choice! Bagger looks nice too. There are a few days each summer when one of those would be real handy. Welcome. Regards, Chris

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
