Yes it will work, do you want to use it? No! Stick with the Hytran.
Yes, I use Hytran in my gear drives also, It's what has kept these tractors going all these years.

Not the classic HY-TRAN debate once again.

Sorry to revive an older thread, but I still have questions. I went to my local Cub Cadet dealership and asked for two gallons of Hytran. They looked at me like I was standing there naked. They had no idea what I was talking about. I told them it was original equipment and recommended by IH for the older Cubs. They grabbed two gallons of Cub Cadet "Hydraulic Transmission Fluid", part number 737-3062, that says on the bottle it is "Original Equipment" fluid for Cub Cadets. They had nothing in the store that said Hy-Tran any where on it.

The 64 million dollar question is this: Is this Hy-Tran?

I was happy until I ordered some Hy-Tran from one of our sponsors, thinking I would be getting the same thing. Nope. This time I got two gallons of stuff that clearly says "Hy-Tran" on the bottle, but it's marketed by Case, not a IH product.

So, the stuff that says Hy-Tran on it went into my 682 this evening. I'm waiting to hear back on this before the other stuff goes into my 1650.

That's what I was looking for and couldn't find. Thanks. The number on my bottles is 737-3026, but I suspect that's the number for the gallon and the number shown on that thread, 737-3025, is for the quart.

So I got the right stuff.

Thanks.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
