Question MTD creeper gear
another question?
can i use a aluminium mtd creeper gear in a 86?
ive been reading here and it seems i will need a creeper to use a tiller

I don't see why not. You will definitely need it for the tiller.

Will the aluminum creepers from say an 1806, bolt up to and work correctly any of the older cast iron gear drive rears ?

I haven't tried it yet, but they have the same bolt pattern, the guts are the same, etc. The only difference appears to be the lubricant specified...85W-140 for the CCC one, for some reason.

Well that will help me out on my project. Now I just need to find a cast iron gear drive tranny and rear to put the big fine splines and carrier in from this 1862 parts machine I have

I am pretty sure Eric put an aluminum creeper in the cast rear 582 he had but since sold and everything worked.

Smile ccc creeper to cast tranny
ok guys i got the ccc creeper gear assy off the auction site...
was pretty clean inside other than a little lay on the spirol pin on the small gear
i found the spirol pins ay mt local hardware store... as well as the detent ball for the shifteri..(i dropped the one that came with it and never saw it again...)
the pins were very reasonable i thought at 1.69 for the 3/4 ones and1.99 for the 1 1/4 ones
