Default Cub 1541 Throttle Cable

Hi. I am new to the forum. I believe the 1541 is under this forum if not please let me know.

I pulled the engine from the cub to replace the starter and removed the throttle cable and the L bracket that holds it. I normally take a photo or just remember but I cannot for the life of me remember where the cable attaches to the carburetor nor where the L bracket attaches to the block. Any assistance would be great.

I can send a photo in a bit. I have everything together and just puzzled on his one.

Thanks a bunch!

Yes, I think so. Will check it out later this evening. I had feeling it was on that side and not the governor side.

In Lilburn.

Well I looked at that too. The dang L bracket appears to be able to mount in one place ad the cable lock hasn't moved. I have to get some hydro oil this weekend. When I am there I will ask him if I can look in the book.

Thanks Oak, we will figure it out.

I also bought a Service Manual (CD) for the 1541 on eBay part number 772-4166. I should have bought the manuals when bought this in 1990.

Oak's picture is of the choke cable, which is just put through the hoist strap hole. You need a picture of the throttle cable mount. It goes on the right side under one of the manifold bolts and connects to the bellcrank with the governor spring. Unfortunately, I don't have a picture.

Thanks Matt and Oak. My choke is good. that is making sense on the manifold bolt. When I put the engine in all the cables were to the choke side. I will run it to the right side and match it up to the manifold bolts.
I thought the thing was on the pivoting piece with all the holes. The term for that pivoting lever is the bell crank? I learned to take photos and not take apart something when sick from this experience.

I appreciate all of the answers.

This is how mine was hooked up. Just follow the blue line, ignore the red wire it was for something else.

Thanks Chip. I remember having to tighten that intake bolt and wondering why. Thanks to Oak and Chip. I will look at it in the morning and get the cub running again.

Oak if you are close to Lilburn give me a holler.

Thanks to all of you. The cable is attached properly and The cub is good to go again. A new starter and new batter work wonders. You all know your stuff and I am glad I found the site.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
