What is the purpose of p/n 759-3689 on 1440.
Looks like it connects from the fuel solenoid to the starter, but I thought the fuel solenoid would be running back to ignition as an accesory that needs 12V during operation to stay open? If it connected to the starter, it would only see power during during cranking right? Here's the link to CC parts: http://www.cubcadet.com/webapp/wcs/s...A/040024700017 |

From the schematic it looks like in the start mode (B to S) on the ignition switch they power the fuel solenoid off the starter through a diode. Then in the run mode on the ignition switch (B to R) it's powered off the R terminal. The diode blocks flow so the starter doesn't keep spinning while the tractor is running and burn up the circuit from the heavy load it pulls.

Thanks for the reply. I can see that it is a little more complicated to do it that way...wonder why. We are wiring in a 14hp Vtwin into an Original. So I will just run the fuel solenoid of the accessory or ignition power, something that has 12V continuous while running.

You need power to the solenoid also while starting or you get no gas. It needs to be powered at all times when starting and running then no power to shut it off. The Diode handles this issue. As long as you’re using a key switch it’s probably the best way to deal with it. On my 1210 I had long ago junked the Cub wiring harness and installed a toggle switch and a push button for the starter so when I did the re-power in my 1210 I just ran a wire to the solenoid that has power in the run position. Not suggesting you do it my way because my tractor has none of the Nanny State mandated safety switches.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
