Has anyone replaced the Shaft Seal (behind the pulley) on a nf hydraulic pump? I have a pump in good working condition but there is a small leak in the seal and I wanted to know if I had to take the whole pump apart to replace it. I've never taken one of these apart and don't know what is involved. I found a seal at ccspecialties for 9.00.
Thanks, Earl

I'm pretty sure there's a service manual in the reference section. I got one for the hydro in my 123 there. Let your fingers do the walking!

I didn't see a service manual, only an installation manual. Thanks

I replaced one a while back. You might get away with just removing the pulley to get to the seal. I can't remember exactly how the seal was in there.

Pump seal # is CR 4911. Most put 2 in because they are thinner then the originals. I have a full right up in PDF format on rebuiling the aux hydro pumps. If you need it let me know. Its a big file.

It appears I have a leak on my aux hydraulic pump too. Although it's not leaking from the shaft seal, it seems to be coming from around the up/down adjustment arm. Could I have the rebuild file too? pfosen@msn.com

can you email the file to one of the mods so they can upload it to the site in the library section. It would be nice to have available from time to time.

I sent a PM to the gentleman that said he had the repair manual on file, but if anyone else has a copy I'd appreciate if it could be shared.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
