Default 1450 Restore !!

Well, I have started to restore a 1450. This restore was not the original intent of the purchase of this tractor. It was intended to be just an engine donor for my 1200 (I guess it would have been a 1400!)

The engine of the 1450 had a damaged oil pan due to neglect of the ISO mounts.

When I removed the engine, I was intrigued by the frame, it must have been a late model, as the front axle mount had slotted holes rather than round holes.

I had not done a "cradle mod" before, so I figured this would be a good experimental tractor. If I failed, the engine would just go to its original intended tractor. The mod turned out perfect.

Thanks for the comments!!

I also turned a couple of "frankenstein bolt eliminators".

They were made out of 1.50" bar stock.

I prefer having the hitch lift hanging on a solid 5/8" rod the width of the chassis.

The frame is cleaning up. I used a paint stripping wheel I got at Sears.

I went back for a second wheel, they do not have them any more and I can't find them on the internet!!

I guess I will have to try electrolysis. I got a box of Washing Soda, now I got to whop up a power supply.

Time to slide that "ceremonial dollar" to my side of the table

Norton Rapid Strip abrasives at MSCdirect.com The link has both 4-1/2" and 7" diameters listed.
http://www1.mscdirect.com/eCommerce/...on+rapid+strip

Take notice the top two have 5/8-11 hubs while the bottom two have a 7/8" hole.
The "match" looks to be MSC #: 06115893 , the second one down.

Yes, you can set up a personal ( or business ) account and have them shipped directly to your house

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
