I was out running errands when I realized I was near the CC dealer. Thinking that it has been awhile since I changed belts I dropped in to pick up some spares for my 127.
The salesman set the belts on the counter and immediately started to explain that the new mule drive belt is 3/8" and that he has never had any complaints. I told him that for $37.00 it had better last. I guess I will have to put it on to see if it lasts and keep the old one for a spare. When did CC change the specs for the mule drive belt from 1/2" to 3/8"? Alan |

Hi Alan. All of the older models - even the Quietlines use a 3/8 belt from the PTO to the deck. You should be all set. John

Thx John,
I am sure it will work fine. It's just threw me a curve that they changed to a narrower belt after 50 years. Alan |

They never changed, it has always been 3/8. It's just easier to find a 1/2" belt than a 3/8" belt. It's real close 3/8" or 4/8" = 1/2" almost the same. The new 3/8" belt should work better since that is what's called for.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
