Hi,
I swapped for a 147 that had a blown engine. It came with a blown replacement K301, the original blown K321 and a 12 hp kohler that looks like a K301aqs or a 12 hp out of a quiet line. It has the muffler on it and a heat shield around the muffler but it doesn't say the model on it. Also it is physically bigger than a k301. It's roughly the same as the K321. So my question is, how can I tell what it is? I'll post pics later... Thanks, Stuart

Interesting: it has a fuel pump on it....
Take a look under the muffler area. Does it still have a PTO on the crank? If not, there should be a casting mark under the PTO area of the block (K301, 321, etc). The tins, starter, etc look like QL, the fuel pump thing is only thing that looks different (maybe add-on and they did a remote tank or something?) |

That's from a 1282, 680, 1210, or 1211...I can see the extra mount brackets still attached. That also explains the fuel pump.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
