Hello,
I am new to this forum and hope to find some help as well as provide some insight where I can. My issue today is with the MULE DRIVE for my 1450. I just bought this machine and need to know if the MULE DRIVE for the tiller is the same as the MULE DRIVE for the 44a mower deck. Can anyone help me? Thank you in advance

Normally the mule drive for a 44A deck will have the pulleys angled to one side instead of being straight.
Second the tiller mule drive needs to have the ability to tighten both pulleys and the pulleys need to aim straight towards the rear, not be angled, the 44 mule drive only has one pulley that tightens. You will probably be better off finding a mule drive to use specifically for the tiller. Here is the link for the Tiller manual that will show and explain what is needed and for the setup. http://ccmanuals.info/pdf/2%20Tiller...s%20Manual.pdf

DWayne,
Thanks for the reply. I just bought this machine it only has one mule drive with it which I assumed was to run both the mower deck and the tiller. Attached are pictures of my mule drive and tiller It looks like both pulleys can be adjusted, so can this drive be used for both the tiller and deck? |

That's for the mower deck only; you'll need a separate one with straight pulley brackets for the tiller.

To me those pulleys look straight. If so that's for the tiller and old mower deck like the 48". The mule drive you need for the 44A mower has angled pulleys.

SuperDuty, After looking it over again, it does appear that the brackets have a "very slight" twist in them. When its mentioned that the 44a (which I have) uses angled pulley's how angled are they.
If it turns out that these are for the deck only, would it be possible for me to make two new pulley brackets to mount on this assembly? If so where could I get the dimensions? Thanks again for you assistance |

Fonty,
The mule drive with the angled pullies is for the 44 or 50 inch deck with the offset center pully. Now, this is what I did. I found a mule drive without the sub frame. I disassembled the mule drive. I locked the brackets in a vice then heated them with a torch until they were red. With a large adjustable wrench I removed the twist by eye until they looked straight. Quench and allow to cool. You should be set. ![]() ![]()

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
