If you're looking for a snowthrower for your 1000, you'll need a QA36A or QA42A. I'd personally look for the 42 inch one cause it's wide enough to cover the width of the tractor. On gear drives, it's really helpful to have a creeper gear. Not saying you can't run a thrower without a creeper, but sometimes you have to go slower depending on depth, wetness of the snow. WOT is a must as well to throw the snow correctly. The thrower will come with it's own attachment system for the front of the tractor. No mule drive needed. If complete, it will have a gearbox that fits under the PTO and lines right up with the PTO. Make sure you find one with the lift rod and chute turning rod. Those could be fabbed if needed. Price depends on condition. I've seen nicer ones complete go for $200-250. I've seen some decent ones needing alittle work go for $150. Good luck in your search.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
