Default North NJ checking in. I own 3 cubs.

Hello,

I'm from NJ. 56. Electronic engineer, hobbyist, tinkerer. I also fly radio control airplanes. I run sound systems on the side too, hence my handle. It is also my eBay user name.

I have a 528, 1641 and a RTZ 50.

The 1983? 528 has (hopefully) something in the intake valve stopping it from closing fully. When I pulled the intake manifold I found a small twig about 3/4 inch long against the back of the in valve so I am hopeful. That project is on ice for now.

Second is a 2004 RTZ 50 with a bad right hydro drive. I want to experiment trying to repair the hydro then maybe sell it for (hopefully) a profit. That project is also on ice for now.

I have my 1994 model 1641 (very disassembled). I have to replace the starter, rebuild the carb, replace the fuel pump, clean the hydro out and then it should run fine. Trying to have it running for the fall leaf clean up season. Accessories for the 1641, a 46 inch mowing deck with a Trac-Vac grass/leaf vacuum with a 5 hp assist motor. Also in the deal I got a huge CC snow blower.

I am not sure which tractor I will end up with just yet. I think the 528's days with me are limited. If anyone is interested contact me.

Pleased to make your acquaintance.

John

John

You've got a good mix of cubs maybe a older one is in the cards to add to your collection. I think if there is nothing else inthe valve area it should be ok. If you deside to sell make a for sale ad in the for sale section you'll get more eyes on it and have a better chance to make a sell.

Default So many cub cadets.

You are correct about placing a proper ad when the time comes. The 582 has been ultra reliable and I realize it was built under a different company. I just want to open the head and see if the valve is being kept from closing by debris. But I still think it will be the first machine to go.

I bought the 1641 and rtz for yucks. I like restoring things. I just don't want to dedicate so much of my garage to storing them. I like the rtz but the wife wants the leaf collection system on the 1641. I only have about 1 acre so having so many machines is ridiculous.

Regards, John

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
