Default Another newbie from Wisconsin

Rory from N.W. Wisconsin. New to the forum and Cub Cadets. I recently inherited a 1711 with a 44" deck, a 42" front blade and a 42" single stage snowthrower. It runs ok and the hydrostatic seems solid. I have a couple of questions. After this I'll try to post in the right sections. First, is it correct that the 1711 was only made for one year in 1985? Does that make finding parts difficult or is there some interchangeability with other models? After browsing the site the past couple days can someone give a quick rundown on the wide frame / narrow frame tractors and which category the 1711 is in? I've seen alot of info and looks like there is plenty helpful people on here should be a fun place to hang out!
Thanks Rory

Awesome pics of your son getting some seat time! It's great having a family tractor! Post your serial number and we'll be able to tell you which year it was built in. Your 1711 is a wide frame and most of the parts from the 82 style tractors will work. Some of the super parts will not work but most will.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
