Default Roadtrip for 86's!

Picked up two 86's today. One really nice shape runner and another mostly complete one for parts. Does anyone have a picture of the original muffler for an 86? The runner has all original tires, great paint, upright exhaust, and a 38 inch deck. The parts tractor needs a clutch, maybe an engine overhaul, but has ag tires and looks promising. Pictures coming soon, it was raining by the time we got back.

Thank you! Does anyone have a picture of the original muffler that these came with?

Nice 86! Looks to be in good shape. The mufflers look like a pepper pot muffler without the holes and a pipe coming out of one side towards the front. Made this way to keep hot exhaust gases from entering the air cleaner. Don't have a pic handy at this point. Those mufflers are hard to find kinda like 169 and 800 mufflers. Of course, my 86 is missing it as well.

I remember you said they were hard to find...I really don't need original exhaust, just thought I'd see a pic and keep my eyes open. This is a pretty straight clean 86...but it needs a little carb cleaning and needs some charging work done to it. the shifter is also loose...might need to look up the shifter repair link.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
