My 1541 keeps throwing the deck belt off, all bearings, pulleys etc seem to be in good shape. I ordered a new tension/idler spring and that did make it last longer, still throwing the belt. I happen to have two 1541's and used the deck on the first coupled to a 1604 and cut grass with zero problems. I swapped the deck, still the deck belt come off, so I changed the mule drive, and still the deck belt come off !!
So I have eliminated the deck as the cause, and I also used a OEM belt, I'm scratching my head at this point. Could it be the PTO ? it seems to be working fine, but it came with a new in the box PTO, aftermarket, but still... maybe the bearings are shot and it's transferring vibrations to the deck drive ? Also looking at where the mule drive bolts (special bolt) to the hanger on parts tree is different than the way mine is, could the cause a problem ? I'm racking my brain, if anyone has had the problem or knows the solution please give me some ideas. Thanks, Clint |

I'm fixing to pull the deck off now. I compared it to a 1440 with same type (not exact same model) but a GT 46" deck and the belt does not vibrate any more. When it comes off it goes under the deck pulleys .. Like I said I'm going to pull it off, I will take a picture of it and a picture is worth a thousand words !!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
