Default Sears M18 engine to IH 782 questions

I've found a Sears GT 6000 model #917.255960 with a mag 18 that the seller says runs good but needs carb work. I plan on going to check it out tomorrow and see the engine run first hand. I want to pull the engine and put it a 782. What mods or changes will I have to make to get this to work? Will the electric pto off the 782 go on it without any problems? Will the carbs swap or should I put a #26 on it?

Thanks for any help!

Maybe this question would be better asked in the engine section. I'd post it as "Mag 18 question"

Sam, I reworded the title so maybe it'll catch peoples attention now. It needs to stay here due that it's a sears engine question.

If the engine tag was still on it I would have made searching for info easy.

Duke

I respectfully disagree, it’s a will this Kohler M18 out of a Sears work in my Cub question.

Default mag 18

Hello, i put a mag 18 from a AYP(same as sears) in my 582. The crank shaft was 1"x a little longer than it should have been. The best thing was the pto from the 16hp briggs was 1" and bolted to the mag 18 the holes were already there and threaded. I put a spacer out front to take up the extra length.
Worked out great and is stronger than the briggs. Mike

I took the time to do a quick web search and the crankshafts have a different part ## but without more digging, I don't know if it is the Diameter or length.
Guess you might check clutch numbers and possibly they give Diameters.
You would have to use your rag joint stuff prolly but that is just a guess.
I did use a Vert. cub out of a 1720 and go to the work of machining the crank amoung other things to convert it to Horizantal, but it was the same Dia. crank, just longer for the vert.application
I would/did use the old adjustable carb.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
