Default Drat!

Well, we were supposed to receive 8-10 inches of the fluffy white stuff today...and instead, received 5 inches of heavy snow and rain. This back breaking slush can't be removed by my 1984 Snapper so now I'm in for it! I could have had a 42" used plow for the 1440 for $50 including mule drive off of CL this summer. But I thought...nah. I've got the Snapper Sno-Thrower...why do I need a plow?

Boy do I need a plow now...and how!

winter can be a crap shoot around here. at least it has been for the past 20 years.
back when I was a kid , snow was on the ground in Oct.
the storm of 1976 dumped 10' in 3 days. lost our power for over a week, the snow was drifted to the roof of the house.

now everyone go's nuts over a few inches. dont get me wrong , I'll take whatever just to get some seat time. 2 days of plowing , Im good now.. Im over it now. it can go away so we can start talking about plowing and tilling our gardens

We got the wet heavy stuff today too. Woke up to about 4" combined with the freezing rain from last night. The 1641 with the 54" blade and tire chains ripped right through it. Just wish I had some weight in the back. Going to have to fill the tires before next snowfall. Good luck, and pickup a blade!

After seeing how well my 147 at half throttle and no chains with a blade worked in 6 inches of wet stuff, I see no need to ever buy a thrower. If it gets too deep I'll shovel. At least I can use the blade in the "off" months.

Got the same 5 inches of heavy wet snow here in CT. Had fun cleaning it up with the plow. That's what i got my plow for, wet heavy stuff or for a few inches of snow. If the snow gets too high I have a snowblower I bought before i owned my cub. Only thing hurting on me today is my left quad, from shifting the 108 so much.

When I used to live in CT I would use my 1210 to plow it to the sides of my driveway and then take the walk behind blower and shoot what I plowed off into the woods so I had room for the next storm. Never had a problem with my quad because of the hydro but my right arm got a work out with the lift for the plow.

Sam, I hate to say it but all that shifting got me thinking about buying a hydro! I felt it in my right shoulder a little yesterday too, from lifting the plow so much. But it was waaay better than shoveling, and way more fun!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
