Where do I find replacement parts for a QA42A? The on line sites list most parts as unavailable.

I checked some of those already, guess I will try and call them and not rely on the web page look up sites. I picked up the blower yesterday. Removed the chain cover , the gear box , started degreasing. The gear box looks good. Slight wear on the input shaft gear. Cleaned out the old slop grease. All the bearings seem to spin free but figured if the seals and bearings are available why not rebuild the whole thing. I hate breakdowns in the middle of a snow strom. Is the chain removable with a master link or do you have to remove the auge?

Couldnt you make the gasket from a roll of gasket material?? What is the original lube in the gear case?

I looked in the manual and it says if there is no oil plug it is a sealed gear case and needs no service. Well not after 30 some years. I am installing new seals and bearings . What grease would be ok to use? The stuff that came out was pretty sad looking. Also , on the chain tensioner on the blower housing itself, I can see the needle bearings in the end of the sprocket shaft and the shaft itself moves back and fothe a 1/4 inch or so. Is that normal to see the needles exposed ? Guess when the blower is in use there should be no dust in the air. Well snow dust I guess.:biggrin2.gif:

I found the gasket and bearings etc. on Charlies site. Looks to be the same as the one on mine. Appreciate your comments Bill. I am just going to rebuild all components and go with a 3.5 pulley.
