Default 109 vs. 149 ?

Thinking of buying an hydralic lift that came off a #149. Should be able to mount it on my #109 ?

Yes/no?

Any comments?

Thanks in advance

NIK,

It will work just fine if you have or put a ported pump in your 109.

Be sure to get all the parts to make the lift work, some of the indivudal parts are a little hard to find and the cost adds up quickly.

Sam's right. You'll need a ported hydro. Most 109's came from the factory without a ported hydro unless they had factory hydraulics. If so, you'll have to swap out hydros.

$$$$$$$$$$ ugh! Seems like this will be a project that will cost toooooo much?

Well got to look at the brighter side, on & off to direct the blade. Exercise is good.

Thanks,

NIK

Probably better off keeping your eyes peeled for a parts 149 without an engine. Then you'd have all the parts handy to swap over. I think the 109's and 129's with hydraulic lifts are pretty handy and neat tractors.........

Some plows from MTD,JD,Craftsman have a manual blade tilt that you can operate from the seat. I've often thought about getting one of those or makeing something like that for my cubs.

I had a crapsman with a extended lever type thing to direct the plow left & right. It worked but.............

I don't have enough gray matter to try to come up with the mechanical know-how in trying to rig something like that? But if I saw it 1st. Hand I could attempt it. Or maybe a step by step pictorial in a converted plow to tackle a project like that.

So guyzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, if anyone converts one, take step by step photos to help those out that aren't that mechanicaly inclined?

This would make a good how to project.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
