Wink My 1650 with 1A tiller

Here is a pic of my 1979 IH Cub Cadet 1650 with my 1A tiller. Just rebuilt the 16hp Kohler in it, runs excellent now. I bought this 1A tiller back in November can't wait till spring to put it to work!

You got a great setup. Powerful 16 hp motor and a great tiller. You should have some fun with that.

Default Nice setup

I have the same combo but have never used it. I'm told that the mule drive with the angled idlers will shred the main belt when used with the tiller. What mule drive do you have on yours?

Nice, really nice looking outfit. You'll have plenty of power for that tiller. Post pics of the tilled garden this spring!!!!

Nice combo that does a great job on the gardens I do in my little hood. You want to use the non angled 38/42 mule drive. I had a brand new belt last 10 mins with the angled pulleys.

great combo. i have a 1650 with a #1 tiller. i had one extension on it till i sheared the pin. i never tried my angle mule as i have heard it does not work. i use a 38/42 mule with mine no problem. i do need to get a pulley shroud though. i dont like that belt running behind my head.

When I installed the tiller the belt that came with it would not fit too short, the guy I bought it of of had it on a 102. So I started looking up what belt would work for and it looks like the 145 inch belt is the one I need. Also at that time I found out that the mule drive has to have the straight pulleys, mine does not so I'm either going to try and straighten the arms our find a different mule drive. My good friend has a mule drive that has straight pulleys so might try and use it till I can find a cheap mule drive. So with that being said does anybody know if the 145 inch belt is the correct belt I need before I go buy one?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
