Hello everyone! I am new to you but you are not new to me. I have been browsing this website for almost a year but I never registered because almost every question I could think of had been answered in a previous forum.

Here is a little background of my cubbing:
I got my first and only cub cadet (104) about 17 years ago at the age of 10 as a Christmas present. My dad got it for me so I could make money pushing snow and mowing lawns. That was an epic fail for him at the time, but in the grand scheme of things I am glad to have it even though it took me a while to appreciate it . Not that I was an ungrateful child, but he talked it up for a month that my present was going to be so much fun and it had wheels....I WANTED A GO KART!!! I had to settle for 3rd gear driveway mania... anyways back to the cub. My dad and I rebuilt the engine and it is a 104 (124) I guess you would call it. I believe it has the 12 horse internals and oil pan. I have not worked on it too much since then because everything was freshened up at the time of rebuild and these things are tanks.

I plan on adding the creeper drive, 3 point, finding a tiller, and doing some of the "Kirk" modifications. I also want to find a 70,71,72 etc...to restore and mow my lawn with. In 20 years I want to be THAT guy with the old cool cub cadet while the other kids dads have a P.O.S home depot plastic tractor.

I know this was long winded, but now you have insight into myself and a few of my experience. I will thank you now and later for the valuable information, and who knows, maybe we can do some buying/selling/trading in the near future.

Good deal with the tractor. FWIW, I don't think you could make a 12 hp out of a 10 hp Kohler. If there is an engine tag, I believe K241 is a 10 hp and a K301 is a 12 hp. It ought to be one or the other, not a hybrid.

I am not a kohler expert ( though i feel i am very mechanically inclined) and I know it is not factory but we used factory internals from the 12 horse in the 10 horse block. It was 17 years ago and I was 10 so i apologize for not being up to date with my details. I only have one picture of the tractor, i will post it below. I live in the city for now and my poor cub is in my grandma's garage not getting any attention. I will be moving soon and the new garage with provide a tinkering place and I will be posting updates of my project. I also found a complete 104 with creeper drive so I can take the nicest parts off of each and do a killer kohler build like Mr. Kirk.

P.S Also loaded an old picture of my Navy Machinist days.
