I got it in the fall, could get it to run right, it would run away on its own as soon as it came off idle. Tried to adjust governor, and the governor rod just spun and spun ( broken tab on governor shaft and a trashed gear) remove and freshen motor, rings rod, gear, used shaft, seals head gasket. It runs real good now. previous owner tried to pres s/g shaft out the back of s/g ruining the front cover, had a local shop rebuild it. I put new front wheel bearings in it, and a new hydro fan on ( came with it), rebuilt one of the 2 pto clutches that it came with, changed the hydro filter and oil, and fixed some minor electrical issues. I still have to repair the front axle pivot, and left front spindle ( king pin slop). Currently repairing the reverse hydro relief valve.

Here is a photo of the rear lift set-up. i think the lift arm is an old style, so I'll be in search of the new style. I have the hitch setup, just need the vertical arms, probably make my own on the mill.

You are correct, you have a narrow frame top casting.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
