I hadn't posted here in a couple of years, since I traded my Cub herd off. But, I traded for this 1641 yesterday. I traded a 2135 for it (that's another story). The 1641 is obviously missing some parts, hood, grille, engine side panels, deck, etc. It runs and the hdyro seems to work okay. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it. Part it out, sell it, dress it up with missing parts, etc. It's a homely looking thing now.
Just wanted to post again here: |

Quick question. I downloaded the parts manual for the 1641, but don't have the parts catalog for a 1861. There are some 1861 parts on ebay, hood, grille surround, engine side panels - will these fit a 1641? Thanks, guys.

They should work. Vent openings may be different if the tractor is an early or late production unit. The pic from the 1882 is the early style the one with the screen is the late style.

The older parts will work. I switched from the old style to the new style on my 1541. A perfect fit. The parts are interchangeable.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
