Brought home a 122 today
Got a phone call this morning from my cub dealer wanting to know if I needed another tractor. Well I don't need another one, but I thought what the heck, I'll listen to what he has to say
 Turns out a feller came in this morning wanting to know if anyone around pulls tractors and would want to by his fathers 122. He said no, but he knew someone who might be interested, so he gave him my number, and me his. Well I called him and it turned out he's one of my old teachers from back in 79. Talked a little and he said he had to put (granny) in a home and was selling everything on her farm to pay some of the bills. (That sucks) His father bought the tractor new from our local IH dealer Gillett Implement who's been closed up for years. But he had a story on how his dad used to cut the grass with it and pull around his IH trailer, (it's long gone) and he loved it. Painted it when it began to fade, (not a good paint job) and when he passed five years ago, he would go to granny's and mow the lawn. Anyway, it had to go because he had no use for it, so he said make me an offer, I did, he accepted and I brought it home. I don't need it, but my buddy has a young boy of seven and he wanted it for a father and son project, so I sold it to him for what I paid, going to a good home after I help him get it going. Fastest turn around yet, and I don't have to do anything but help him. It's got a few PO mods other than the paint. He moved the choke cable, painted all over the wires, cut out the frame below the points, put some tin on the upper grill opening, flattened out the battery box. And something else I can't think of. But it's got a creeper, and ok tires, and all the fuel was drained, so not all bad. But just thought I would share the story. And my buddies boy is jacked up to no end to get started on "his" new tractor.

Nice looking 122. Looks like it had some care! Good to find a father & son project for your friend.

Thanks guys, I think they will enjoy the 122.
I really wouldn't mind keeping it, but don't have the extra room, well that's not totally true either. But can't keep everyone, I'm not Mike (Cubcrazy)

That is a nice looking 122, and a great story from start to finish! I remember how thrilled I was when I got my Original around 8 years of age. Now at 37, I'm still running the IHCC's !

Enjoyed the story. The flattened battery box was no doubt due to a larger battery being installed.
