Hello,

I am new to the forum after buying a house in Maryland with an abandoned 582 Special in the yard. I had the previous owner leave it behind instead of removing it. So far I have only been able to dig it out as it was to the rims in mud. Using a HiLift jack I was able to move it about five feet. It might have to wait until spring for any real work as I haven't physically moved from Illinois. I am a teacher under contract until June.

I am looking forward to asking questions and working on my "project."

John

John, where in MD are you? I was born in Havre de Grace, tip of the Chesapeake, but by the grace of God, am now a Michigander! Loving it all the time! My first winter plowing with my 149, what a blast! Bring on the snow! I lost my job of 20 years on Dec 30th, so have plenty of time to plow. Hopefully I can find a job on a golf course for the season, they generally give you all the golf you can play. I hope your tractor will work well for you. Roger

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
