Talking New from East Tennessee

Hello everyone! My name is Randy and I'm from the small town of Sweetwater TN. I picked up my first Cub Cadet an 1862 at auction last weekend for the amazing sum of $350 ! It was intended as a backup for my big box store green colored pos that has become a money pit of late. Two days after I bought the Cub I found a frame for the green thing so I guess the Cub is my new toy

A couple of years ago my son and I were looking for a new project and just missed out on a sweet 782. I have had my eye out for another CC ever since.
The tractor was pretty straight except for the usual plastic issues around the grill shell. I replaced the relay to get the deck working and it seems quiet enough. I have a throttle cable coming and lots of adjustments to make but overall it seems to be a solid tractor.

My other projects are a complete restore of my son's 1974 Allis Chalmers 416 which will be mated to a really cool pull scraper we found,we also have a totally original Massey MF-8 that I need to do some ignition work on plus my sons and I are doing a total frame off restore on my 1972 Monte Carlo.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
