Default Hello from a new guy

I bought my first cub in 1973, a real nice original, cut our 2 acres and plowed snow with it until I ran into a tree with it and broke the steering gear. I paid $275 for that tractor and got $100 for it 37 years later. It hooped and coughed and blew oil but it pushed 2 feet of snow. It proved to me that the old kohlers were industructable. I've got a 129 now that I bought about a year ago, nice machine, got it from a guy who has hundreds of them, When I asked him about the Hydro he told me , you can,t get any thing better,I'm getting used to the hydro, I plowed some heavy wey snow with it this winter with no problems, the K engines are still the best.

I'm in House Springs a little old place about 30 miles from St. Louis. We live just off and just high enough above the Big River and I mean just, been here 40 years and never flooded, probably never will. This looks to be a very nice and very informative forum. If I knew they existed, I'd probably never have gotten rid of my original but new days, new ways, this one was built in about 1971. I like the old stuff, they were a lot simpler and built to last, I've got a nice 79 Vette and a 68 f-100, both look and run great, now that I'm getting old I hope to follow their lead.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
