Not bad at all! As long as it gets the job done. Enjoy your tractor!

Thumbs up

Modern Tool and Die lawn and garden tractors were not all that bad. You're garden tractor might be great providing you use the machine with in it's capabilities. Just don't get carried away thinking it can do the tuff work of our Cub Cadets, and I think you will be alright, LMAO!

Great machine! I have had my White since new. Cost was 1,950.00 back in 1990, and I have all the manuals. On my model, the trans has been a problem for breaking, but after 23 years the Vangard has been a true power house! Starts up as good as a new Corvette. I have replaced the deck spindles, and have chewed through a few sets of tires.

Here are a few picts! Hope your project goes well, hope I did not hi/jak your thread!

White has been good to me, despite other's two cents. Good luck, keep us posted!

Sweet deal on the White. They are quite a sturdy built machine. The price is the best part. FREE is always doable regardless of color. Enjoy it. I have seen a few of them at plowdays. I like them.

I had to replace all fuel line, remove and flush out the 3 gallon fuel tank, replace the short pulse pump lines, open up the pump it's self and clean the rubber diaophram, and the crap from the rotting fuel lines, replace fuel filter, and clean out the carb. . That fixed my no/low-fuel problem. I just did all these repairs last summer. Ended up using all 6' 3" worth of new fuel line !

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
