Default What is a 582 Special worth

I know these are just a "lawn mower" but they don't come up for sale too often, but it's red and an 82. What is this one worth?

Just my 2 cents but I think that one is worth what he is asking. Nice looking 582 from what I can see. You don't have one so you must need one, LOL

I bought a 4 speed 2 years ago, I could just not bring myself to use it.

It just seems unnatural to have a 4 speed in a Cub Cadet!!

That's a nice one, Todd. I think it's also worth the asking price.

My neighbor had one and he used it to blade snow, mow with it , and he also would mount a #2 tiller on it and tilled gardens. The creeper gear is already built in !!

Alot of people poo poo the rearend , but he used his year 'round and it held up the whole time.

From the way the pics look , it looks very clean. It would be hard for me to resist if it runs good. Maybe the switch on the PTO is bad ?? Or the PTO.

Watch out for that positive battery cable !!!

Looks about right on the price. The PO took great care of that tractor. "The blades stopped turning", umm, belt broke? PTO bad?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
