Question 1512 rear output shaft

I have a 108 with 38" deck, a 149 with tiller and recently acquired a 1512 as I have admired the little Kubota D600 for years. I have a nice 44A deck which I previously acquired that I plan to use with it after changing the pulley on the deck. But I wonder about the splined output shaft on the rear of the hydro on the 1512. A friend who is much more ICC and CCC knowledgeable, stated he did not know it was standard on a 1512 but I advised him the fuel tank has a tunnel for a PTO shaft so we are assuming it is original. Will someone please tell me what the thing is designed to power? Also, can some kind of lift hitch be installed on this tractor if it could be found? I notice it has hydralic lines to the front as well as a cylinder to lift the mower deck. If a lift hitch could be installed, I assume the mower deck lift cylinder would have to do double duty or be replaced by another cylinder or alternatively perhaps powered by the hoses now routed to the front. Will someone please clarify this for me? I do not object to research to answer my own questions but have not come up with anything regarding the above. Please forgive me if I missed it here somewhere and point me in the right direction. On another subject, we have plenty of spare early rear ends around-any reason to swap the rear end for a steel housing as long as the alloy one works as new?

The shaft is for a rear PTO but as far as I know the 1512 was not offered with the option. You can add a 3 point hitch to it. If you are concerned about the aluminum case I have a brace to beef up that up. Not worth the cost and effort to swap it for a cast rear, just my 2 cents.

According to the parts book on a 1512, it should not have the splined rear output shaft on the hydro. I should just have a hole for a pin in it. The splined rear shaft was for a rear PTO, but, near as I can tell, that wasn't an option for the 1512. Yes, you can put a 3-point hitch on it. It will operate off the same cylinder as what the deck lift uses. The outlets on the front are for front power attachments, such as a hydraulic angle blade. As far as the rear end and hydro is concerned, If you want a cast iron rear, it should be an easy swap. With the splined output shaft, I am wondering if someone transplanted a hydro off a SGT to your machine. Thank you for your replies. My friend thought the rear PTO was only available on SGTs. Interesting that the fuel tank would have had to be part of the PTO installation to accomodate the PTO drive shaft. If that is done as a retrofit, (SGT hydro into GT) isn't that the transplant involving a gear ratio change? Mine seems to have quite normal ground speeds so I assume the gearing is correct.

With respect to the real axle assembly, if my gearing is correct with the SGT hydro does that imply that I could swap the complete rear axle without concern for the gear ratio? Can you think of any modifications that would be required to simply swap one for the other including internals?

if they put a pump from a Cyclops in it then it would have a splined shaft in it and still be a garden tractor pump

I have a hydro leak on R.H. trunnion shaft lip seal. Bought a SU-9008000-6701 for it. Did not remove the old one yet. It appears from data I see on the parts web sites, the seal will be incorrect for a hydro pump for a SGT. Will I find a data plate somewhere on the hydro unit to allow determination of the correct seal? I have no idea what a Cyclops is due to being a rank beginner. Thank you guys.

the cyclops is what Sam Mac has as his profile pic. its called a cyclops because of the single headlight look. they had redesigned them in 1990 and had a number of "updates" done to them. some good some not so good.

My machine was delivered to a municipality as part of a fleet purchase. I assume they had the possibility of specifying specials. My 1512 model number from the data plate is
*145882100*. Does anyone have a suggestion about how to determine how to buy a seal for the hydro? Of course I can measure the shaft diameter and the seal O.D. but that will require someone who has the data to determine the correct seal P.N..
I could assume my pump is the same as used on a "cyclops" as suggested above and order a seal accordingly if I knew what models were "cyclops". That should be an easy one for one of you experts on these things. Thank you.
