Default Gearbox Bearings for a CW 36 SnowThrower

Hi, new member here...great site.

Anyway, seeking some info if anyone may have any.....inherited a CW 36 snowthrower a couple yrs ago. Gearbox was froze up on it. I eventually got it freed & ran it a tad. But the bearings were shot & it didn't last long. I was just happy to get it going. Recently, I decided to tear it apart & put new bearings in & hopefully, get it going. Got it tore apart & all (4) bearings out of it. But there's no numbers on the bearings (legible anyway) to order or cross-reference, etc. They're "Schatz" bearings, made in USA. That's all I can decipher on them.

Wondering if anyone's replaced these before & where they got them. I'm sure I can measure them & go from there but wanted to try this avenue 1st.

Thanks, Ryan

I have the same problem...I need an external bearing and shaft. Are all the bearings the same? Do you happen to have a part # for the shaft that the U joint fits on to?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
