Default Refurbished 982

I am almost done restoring my 982 & thought I would show some before & after pics. The Onan motor runs flawlessly and tractor just needs new hour meter, 3 point hitch & V61 front tires. Those items will be on eventually. First pic is of first week I had it then other pic is after fixing tractor, cleaning, priming & painting.

Your welcome. There is just something super about restoring a "super" garden tractor.

Very nice clean up! Your restore will allow the Super to last for many more years to come. The duel exhaust is outrageously cool, and being a Red Super, had me's thinking of the Red Barron of WW1, LOL!

Nice job!

Thanks johncub7172. I hope it lasts for many more years to come & with proper maintenance it should. I got tired of my front grille being discolored from the exhaust blowing on it. I extended it out & it looks pretty cool & keeps exhaust off grille. The 982 is a beast of a model & a great great workhorse.

Nice job on the super. It looks great and will look even cooler with the V61s on the front.

I think I will get another set of wheel weights to mount on it. I like the way stacked wheel weights look and will help with tillage duties for traction.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
