New 1641 Acquisition
Picked up a 1641 from a guy down the road today. At least I think it was a 1641 at some point! It's pretty rough and I asked about why it was parked and he really didn't have any idea. He said it was running at some point, but they parked it and he originally told me he thought there was a problem with the oil making it not start... Anyway, I went to look at it yesterday and it was worse than I thought. The spark plugs were snapped off, shields missing, no air cleaner, etc, etc. I ended up letting him know what it would be worth to me to haul out as is, but I also gave him a few pointers I picked up from mine and of course pointed him here. He slept on my offer and let me know today that he'd accept. So, I drove down my 1641 and towed the mess down.
When I got it here and finally got to take a better look at it, it looks like they tried taking all sorts of parts off (muffler, oil filter adapter, and who knows what else). I also see the wiring has been messed with quite a bit. I threw a good battery in it when I got it here and began tinkering. Couldn't get it started, but after chasing through all the wiring I came to the conclusion it's the starter solenoid. I turned the key to on and found a way to get the voltage to the starter (not sure if I can describe on here) and it started to turn! So I sprayed a little carb cleaner and and it started right up! Looks like it might have been parked due to a bad starter solenoid. What a shame. But, now I have to locate some missing pieces for the motor (see pics below) and as Sam has mentioned, this may turn into a 1210 Yard Harley project like him. I guess that shows how much of his advice I've taken up to this point...

Thanks guys!
So, anybody know off hand what size bolts for those holes or what that hose clamp is all about? The holes are in my second post above. There's a set of threaded holes but I think only one on each size gets a bolt of some sort. You can see one hole that's cleaner on the bottom right. Nothing in the parts diagrams, but I know something goes in there! I'd like to go pick up some bolts but don't want to buy 20 different kinds to test them out if I don't have to.
