Default Broken Electric Lift - What are my options?

The electric lift on my 147 is broken. The little gears inside are worn and do not engage properly anymore.

This really wasn't much of an issue with the mower deck, I could just set the deck and forget about it. However, it makes trying to raise and lower the plow a big pain.

Is there any way to convert this machine to either hydraulic or manual lift? Or would I be better off to try to find a different electric lift unit? I'd hate to sink a bunch of $$ into another lift, just to have it wear out, too.

Thanks!

I don't own an electric lift so I don't know for sure, but it seems like I've read somewhere that the gears out of something else are the same and can be had for a reasonable price, but I can't remember for sure.

I'm sure someone out there knows though, be patient they'll be around soon.

I don't know specifically what is wrong with your Electric Lift, but you may try this source.....Lift Parts

The gears out of a Ford tractor oil pump Model 600-900 are the one. The can be cut down too .375 so you can get more than one out of a gear. part # FSN6600A or FPN6600B

Those are for the hydraulic lift, not the electric lift. There's a couple parts here, but hold onto your wallet... http://ccspecialties.org/liftparts.html

The sponsors here might have them, too...

just get a new actuator.
Then you won't have to worry about it for another 30 years. :biggrin2.gif:

I haven't had much luck trying to find another actuator. I have seen some aftermarket ones, but not IH units.

Is it just as hard to find a narrow frame hydraulic setup?

Thanks

I want a hydraulic setup for 124 badly!!!
But, they sell for $300+, and that's usually doesn't come with everything.
I've seen complete set ups for over $500!!!!

Yes, I'm sure they pop up here and there for a reasonable price, but when you're looking....it doesn't work that way.
And I read all the time about buying cubs with a working setup, but then you're paying for another tractor, and if it's not close...there's shipping to add.

There out there, finding an affordable one when in a bind, is another story.

Try www.duffnorton.com
They have some inexpensive actuators, tht should almost be a swap with original. Then you can have the original rebuilt.

Or, the right way is try the sponsors sites. Someone should have one.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
