Model 805 Blown Motor, will this motor fit?
Need advice !!! The motor on my mid 1980s Cub Cadet model 805 threw a rod. I have a lead on a Briggs and Stratton 14 hp Vanguard motor that is off a Simplicity Regent Hydro. Should this work on my model 805 ? Is there anything I need to lookout for before buying this motor. Will this motor be a straight swap. Any advice and expertise is appreciated.

Sam Mac says the vanguards are good motors. But I really doubt it will be any where near a "straight up" swap. Going from an 8hp to a 14hp, there is going to be some differences. Does this motor come with a PTO clutch? How big is the pulley that drives the hydro? How big is the pulley on the clutch? Will a 14HP even fit in the frame? There is a lot more to it than just getting a motor and bolting it in. Can you get some pics of the motor?
