Default Number 1 cart

Is there any way to positively identify a no 1 cart? I am going to look at a cart tomorrow that I found on craigslist. I believe it is a number 1 after looking at several pictures from this site. It is painted the wrong color, which is the only thing that is not correct about it. Is there a serial number located somewhere that I can look at?

this is the best pic of one i could find on my computer, i would look at the latch assymbly to identify it by, it would be too hard to make on your own and im sure no other brand made it the same, also i think there is a S/N on them but i cant swear to it, let us see some pics if you get it! better yet post the link to the ad! (no ones gonna steal it) and if i see a pic im sure me or someone can identify it.

Actually I did read that, that is one of the pictures I used to identify the cart. I was just wondering if there are any serial numbers on the cart? I guess I should have asked more clearly, I was wondering if this cart was made only by IH or if there are others that look like it but arent a #1?

MinnCub: AFAIK there is no serial number/ID tag on the No 1 Trailers, nor, as I review several variations of the Operators Manual literature, an IH logo.

I seem to recall seeing some other trailers of a similar design but none were painted white IIRC. Also, the IH version is a Dump Trailer with a latch handle.

Good Luck... Let us know if you get it....

MinnCub: Yep that is indeed an IH #1 Cart. Congratulations. They are hard to find.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
