Im just about done with the clutch on my 70 but I noticed the bushing in the drive plate has got some wear on it.Im not seeing that as a replaceable bushing.Do I need to get a new drive plate or have a bushing made or can you buy a replacement bushing somewhere?

They do come out and are replaceable, our sponsors should be able to fix you right up.

Yes, the bushing is replaceable and cost about $5. The three pins are replaceable as well if they show excessive wear. They are 3/8" coiled roll pins if I'm not mistaken. At least that's what I used in a recent repair. Check for cracks in the plate too. They are prone for stress cracks and while you have it out is a good time to weld it back up (or have it welded). A replacement clutch driver sells for about $100 the last I checked so repairs are justified somewhat.

Thanks Yosemite Sam I had posted a while back in preps for this and I think someone told me that all ready...Ive read so much that its all gettin a little jumbled....I recently got up the other morning after working on the clutch the day before and my wife was mad at me....took about a hour to get her to talk to me...I asked her what was wrong and she said "Whats a teaser spring"...I had to take out to the shop and show her and show her here what it was before she got over it.....I had been talking in my sleep that night.....lol......

I just checked and they are the same so you need p/n IH-376265-R1. The three pins are 3/8" coiled roll pins too. |

Thanks Wshytle I think Im the pins look really good and I'll check the plate its self under a good light for cracks....Yep worth reworking over cost of a new...looks like a good place for press in bearing to me...

Check those pins real close. On mine from my 122, they had cracks in the pins themselves.
I'm in the same boat, needing about the same parts. I'm thinking about buying a generic bronze bushing that's smaller ID than OEM and boring it to fit my driveshaft. I figure my driveshaft isn't a full 5/8" any more after all these years. I can turn it down to an exact number in the lathe, and bore the bushing a few thou over that. Anybody think this will work?

I think it will work, if concerned about the shaft it could be trued up a bit too.

If the end of the driveshaft that rides in a soft bronze bushing is worn, than the area where the throwout bearing rides is probably far worse. It's time to make a new driveshaft. The new bushing is a pretty tight fit on a new driveshaft...you'll probably have to run some emery paper through the new bushing so the clutch doesn't hang up. |

on the left, the one that came off the ihcc.m71k161, looks like it was replaced juging by the weld. next it the one off the ihcc.m72, and it has not been replaced. hope this helps.
