1872 Heat Shields
I've been looking at part's diagrams for my 1872 and it appears that there is supposed to be a heat shield surrounding the exhaust/muffler as well as a lower shroud just in front of the engine. Mine are missing. Is it common for these to be removed? Does anyone have pictures they can send? I'd like to either fabricate or purchase a used set in decent shape.

The shroud ducts the heat out through the grill and they are necissary. Keep an eye out on ebay as they pop up from time to time. KT17 and M18-20 shrouds are the same.
I wouldn't bother trying to fabricate when you'll eventually find it and generally pretty cheap. Scott

That's what I'm looking for! There's also a lower shroud shown in the part's view. Is this also installed on your tractor?

Yes there is a lower and the lower helps support the upper. There are five pieces total other than the fly wheel cover.

Sorry Scott but the m18 and m20 shrouds are different. The m20 heads stick out farther than the m18 heads so the side panels are wider apart on the m20. The kt17 and m18 shrouds might be compatable. I do see some differences in them though so I can't guarantee that.

Actually now that I think about it, the top cover is the same but the side panels and lower shroud are different on the m20.
