Default Briggs and Stratton tank

Hey guys I have a new generator, it's a 1970s mcculloch 1500 watt, it has the 3hp Briggs and Stratton. One problem I have is that it has the tank mounted to the carburetor, obviously that is a problem because the generator only runs for about an hour one that tank, anybody know how I could make it accept a fuel line to an external fuel tank? I'm thinking the pickup tube could have a fuel line clamped to the bottom of it but I don't know if it will work and I don't have another engine to try it on. Any Insight?

There really isn't much you can do with that type of set-up.....

Set a tank next to it and sub-feed the tank on the motor.......

My other option was to find a 3hp with the updraft carb but they are hard to find and It would suck setting up the gov.

you could always get a5 gallon gas can or whatever size take you want and just put an electric in line fuel pump on it.

He doesn't have any way to tie a line into the carb....... It's submerged in the tank. It is a fuel tank mounted carb. No fuel line, no bowl.

If I could tie in a gas line I would of hooked up an impulse fuel pump to run to a large tank, I plan to convert another Briggs 3hp to a float carb for a mini bike, but a generator needs the gov hooked up and working right., maybe I'll tinker with the other one first see if I can make something work

It should work If I cut the wide bottom off of the pickup tube with the screen, then attach a fuel line to it, leave the gas tank on so that diaphragm still functions, run the fuel line out the gas cap to whatever. But I would have to see if the diaphragm has enough power to lift fuel from below, because if I put the tank above the fuel would keepflowing and flood the carb.

I really doubt it. They barely had enough to suck it up out of the tank. If you are planning on leaving this thing run for a long time, you would be better off either, finding a different gen-set, or using a different carb altogether.

With no oil shutdown feature on it I would find another with one one it.Those little motors were not made to run for long periods without checking the oil.
just my 3¢

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
