Unhappy Deep freeze collapse

Retirement finally arrived so was looking forward to being able to start work on the several Cubs I have managed to pick up over the past couple of years. Just needed a couple of more months out of this temporary shelter, but Old Man Winter had different ideas.

Other sheds were full so now I'll have to wait for the Spring thaw. Can't get tractors out cause this stuff off cause it is frozen solid.
Weather man says more snow coming Sunday night.

Here are the two main items in there. Couple Cub Originals.

They appear to be alright, but sure can't wait for spring.

With that type of structure I would have made sure snow was kept off. I made up a snow removal tool to get it off of my semi flat roof buildings.

Looks like the Cubs are alright. Have you thought of putting up a simple shed using 4x4 posts and corrugated roofing? I would think the materials would be nearly as cheap as what your building costs.

I've got a number of out buildings, filled with tractors, tools and yes, I think one is even filled with what some people (my wife) would call junk. This was a temp cover that has metal trusses for light snow that I use to keep some stuff out of weather. New barn under construction never made it out of the ground when second knee replacement didn't go quite as smooth as the first. By the time I was ready to get to it, we were into Nov and that didn't figure to be a time to build. You can see a portion of one of my barns on the right side of the one photo.
This snow came fast and in bunches mixed with some sleet and such so there was no way to get out to clean it off.
This cover was destined for the scrap heap and was pushing for one more year.
Didn't expect to see a winter more like the ones of my youth. Was figuring what with the supposed global warming we would have made it through just fine.
Oh well, it is what it is. Not complaining, just showing.
And yes Cecil, it appears that the tractors are just fine. Looks like my project has just been put on ice for a while.

we live and learn, next time I'm sure you will make sure the snow is off the roof of the buildings from now on...

I've had those things fail also. This is a pic of one I had that I used to store my race car hauler in. It was made by Shelter Logic in Watertown CT. It split down the center. They wanted more for a new cover than I paid for the whole thing. At the time I had 3 of there over rated tents. Considering that I lived about 3 miles form the factory I tried to do business with the local guy. Never again will I buy a Shelter Logic product. The round style in the foreground was about 10 years old and never had a problem, the big one to the left in the back was 46 FT long and about 15 Ft tall and it was only a couple years old when it failed.

At least I'm not alone. I have a 24 ft truck box body that I store my zero turn, 147, and a bunch of construction equipment in. Went to get some things out of it and the overhead door wouldn't open. WTF? Looked up to see the whole roof collapsed into the inside of the body. Thankfully there wasn't any damage to anything inside.

Looks like a 1962 with 3 pt and a 1961 with 3 point!! Sweet. Those cubs are solid and will withstand this harsh winter, but I'll bet you are eager to get to them! Sorry to hear about the collapse of your cover--just been a really hard winter in the north this year.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
