Default Alright guys, I need some convincing...(w/pics)

I've got a 1450 with single hydraulics I've been working on quite a bit lately. Since I've got it, I have:

-Cradle Mod
-New ISO's
-Tranny fluid change/filter change
-Changed out aluminium oil pan for cast iron
-Points were messed up when I got it, fixed points and installed Pointsaver
-New battery
-New spark plug wire
-New hydro cooling fan on drive shaft
-New spark plug
-About to install new bushings in carb to resolve idle issue
-Other little things I know I'm forgetting

It's become a project for me and it's about at a fully usable position for spring/summer (mowing, tilling, snow blade in the winter). It feels good to put that much work into something that didn't even run when I got it and now it's at the point of being reliable. The only thing I kinda wish it had was engine side panels.

Anywho, here's my conundrum: a friend of mine (and fellow OCC Member) told me about a 1450 local to me, well about 45 minutes away, that is for sale. Here's the kick; it's a dual hydraulic with a 50" deck for $300, maybe less. It has its side panels with it, as well. Only down side is, it needs a new battery and voltage regulator. Aside from that, I'm sure it needs the cradle mod done and new ISO's, but through the process of working on my current 1450, I've acquired enough rubbers to have a workable set of ISO's so that is kind of a moot point. I'm also told it keeps throwing the deck belt but that probably isn't a big deal to fix.

So, what do you guys think? Should I jump on this dual stick and sell my 1450 with a 44" deck to make up the cost? I hate doing a bunch of work to something then turning around and selling it but a dual stick doesn't come up every day. Guess I need a little expert advice

I don't know that you can find a dual stick setup for less than $300, I haven't seen one yet for less than $400, but I haven't looked that long. If you can come out of the deal square, then I'd do it. Those don't come around everyday. You do know that two tractors means you have to swap implements less often, right?

Well I currently have 3 Cub's so implement switching never happens except between seasons. This 1450, if I get it, would get the rear lift and tiller from my 1450 before I sell it so it'd get good use out of it. Only down side is, I don't have any attachments or implements that could use the dual hydraulics!

I'd say jump on it. I'd be hard pressed to turn down a dual stick 1450 for that price. You can use what you've done to help sell the one w/o side panels better AND use the knowledge to do the job again (on the one with side panels) and perhaps better. I'd want the side panels.

PS I'm no expert.

You trade a lot........ Sideways it seems. You should either add to the fleet, or trade up. LOL. Not that going from a single to a dual stick is a bad deal. But, it's another QL that WILL need work. Looks like it may need some tire attention too. Not hard at all to add the hydraulic cylinder to the 50" blade you have. Honestly, you should either just add it to the fleet.... or get rid of the 1050. Do you really have a need for a gear drive, 10hp tractor with manual lift? Just so I remember, you have a 1450SS, 1811, and the 1050? You got rid of the 129 didn't you? If your gonna buy it, I'd just add it to the fleet. (Said the guy who had only 1 less than a year ago, and now has 9 tractors....... and still looking. 9 is an odd number... we can't have that!)

You will be very lucky I it is not gone already!!

Side panels are on E-bay all the time. I picked up a pair a couple weeks ago for $27 plus shipping.

I have 2 twin stick 1450's and a1650 also. They are great tractors!

And Oh yes, my friend , you are NOT off topic with this post!!

Good luck!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
