Default 782 Repower with CH25?

Will a CH25 fit in a 782? I found one on CL http://hartford.craigslist.org/grd/4423738961.html
If I remove the grass screen, will there be a place for a drive shaft to bolt up, or do i need to find a different engine?

Yes. You will just either need a different screen, or cut the center out of that one.

Would a driveshaft and rag joints from a magnum engine work? Do i need to figure out which way the engine spins or are they all the same?

Should and yes, they all spin the same way. Driveshaft length is going to change though. You would be better off going to a CV shaft off a newer tractor.

Lets say i came across a 2185 with a CH18, I think that would be a better option, No? I would be able to use the driveshaft and engine mounting plate and PTO and not have to hunt parts down or fabricate much, correct. The other option is I have a M18 that needs machining and rebuilding and a PTO.

Read this thread to give you an idea what you'll need.

If you get a 2185 you can use the drive shaft but it needs to be shortened. Easy way is to get the drive shaft, motor plate and muffler from an 1864 then you'll still need a pump adapter.

Odd... My book doesn't show a 2185, but they did make one..

No you will still have to mod the driveline no matter what. There is no "direct fit" driveline on the "V" motors. They all have to be changed at least some to work in a 782. I'd go with the bigger engine because well..... its bigger. More HP is always better!

The M18 is the only one that will bolt in and work with the existing driveline. But, as I seem to be saying on here a lot, better check into prices of rebuilding the Mag..... they are PRICEY!!!

Where you say 1864, do you mean 2185? would the motor plate and muffler from the 2185 work?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
